A quick run through of events at the Juneau Public Libraries this month.  For the most updated events information check the library website.  One big event that missed the podcast is the annual student bookmark contest.  Read about it and download an entry form, or visit any library for entry forms and information.  This year’s theme is “The Fine Art of Reading”.

Introducing music downloads through Listen Alaska.  You may already be familiar with this terrific service providing audiobook downloads, but now in addition our collection includes a wide variety of music including blues, jazz, pop, rock, classical and opera.  There’s something for everyone here, so if you’ve already checked out every CD in the library collection, expand your horizons, discover new music with Listen Alaska music downloads.Start at the Juneau Public Library homepage and follow the e-research tab to see all the library’s electronic resources by subject.  Choose the audiobooks heading and then click on Listen Alaska/Overdrive Audiobooks.  Unless you’re using a library computer you will be prompted for your library barcode # and then will be redirected to the Listen Alaska homepage.

As promised, Ash Dargan and Morgan Fawcett’s performance which features Australian Aboriginal stories with musical accompaniment on didgeridoo and Native American Flute is available in it’s entirety in today’s JPL Podcasts (split into 2 parts).  In addition to the stories, Ash and Morgan come together for some incredible improvisation, enjoy.
